Johnson City, New York, is a village in Broome County and part of the “Triple Cities” alongside Binghamton and Endicott. It was originally settled in 1798 when Samuel Allen purchased about 400 acres in the area. The village was incorporated on September 15, 1892, as Lestershire but was renamed Johnson City in 1916 to honor George F. Johnson, co-owner of the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company.

Over the years, the village has transitioned from an industrial hub to a diverse suburban area. It is home to Binghamton University’s Health Sciences Campus, contributing to the region’s medical and educational growth. With its rich industrial past and evolving economy, Johnson City remains a vital part of the Binghamton metropolitan area.
